In the recent years, I've discovered more and more graphic designers and motion design studios based in Barcelona. Dvein, Lobulo, Vasava... regularly show us a really talented, open-minded and colorfull way of doing Art Direction. Is this coming from the city they are living in?
Personally, I went 4 or 5 times in Barcelona and I always get a lot of pleasure in the city. Of course - as you all know - it's a really cool city to party, but not only! I think there is an atmosphere, an environment conductive to creativity: colorfull Gaudí's architecture, soft heat that push you to go and do stuff outside, Barcelonian's exhuberance and way of life...
So as I previously did with New York - you can read the article here - I wondered if this city could be a great place for living and working? Here is a few reasons to go:
- Every year, you could attend the OFFF Barcelona. Founded by Hécto Ayuso, this event gathers all the very best talented outhere right now. I highly recommend it to you and this year will be the 15th anniversary!
- For those who are still students, you could try to enter the Atelier, the visual arts and design school also founded by Hécto Ayuso. Each year, the current students create all the visual communication elements for the OFFF Barcelona, not bad? ;)
- You could walk all day long in the footsteps of Gaudí, Dalí, Picasso, Miro... and see how they can inspire you as a graphic designer: think about colors, shapes, lines, patterns...
- And oh, beer is cheap! :)
Remember Freddie Mercury and sing...
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL HORIZON... ¡VIVA BARCELONA! :)
